UX Camp Hamburg 2024
Speaker at UX barcamp in Hamburg.
Summary
On August 3rd, 2024 I participated in the UX Camp in Hamburg and gave a session “Prototyping in Extended Reality.”
The Camp
Barcamps are the most enjoyable events for me because of the buddy atmosphere. There is no division between speakers and audience. Anyone can host a session on any camp-related topic, you are free to choose which session to attend, and the session can simply be a knowledge-sharing discussion. All participants dine and party together. The ideal opportunity to break away from routine, practice presenting, network, and exchange knowledge with colleagues. Additionally, all the barcamps I’ve been to are well sponsored with good venues, food, merchandise, etc 🙂 Perhaps the only pain point comes when you’re choosing between multiple great sessions happening at the same time.
My Session
My session this time was based on my previous sessions at other barcamps. This was an entry-level aimed at introducing XR to regular UX designers and encouraging them to explore XR prototyping. I told about the unique benefits of XR, the most profitable use cases, explained the novelties of spatial prototyping compared to mobile and web, shared some design guidelines by Meta, Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Unity, showed the most common spatial prototype types, prototyped life, and demonstrated several MR prototypes of different fidelity levels. After the session, there was a long Q&A.

Other Barcamps
After a short research, I found 5 other UX camps in Europe. Maybe you decide to visit one of them.
