On July 27, 2024, I attended the Berlin Virtual Reality Meetup at the mdh Campus in Berlin. It was very enjoyable listening to interesting talks, meeting familiar and new XR folks, and trying out their XR hardware and demos.
Lena Thiele presented MYRIAD, a project by Miiqo Studios at the intersection of science, art, and poetic storytelling. Heiko Fischer demonstrated Leadership Training by VRH Games which turns bestseller books into VR games that create an environment that forces the middle management to think when forwarding orders. Maja Stark from HTW Berlin told about the AURORA XR School for Artists that provides XR education for art & culture professionals.
I tried the OpenStreetMap VR by Markus Gräser from ctrlw.github.io, Zamia: Memories of the Swahili Coast by Gwamaka Mwabuka, The Room of Resonance by Laurien Michels, Classroom Upskilling training by Polyvista, Hands-on VR Training by i-mmersive, and hand an insightful conversation with Fax Quintus about why Pico 4 is better than Meta Quest 3 for a company. The highlight of the evening for me was Puzzle Battle/ Laser Limbo by Nico Uthe, freeroam.ar. This game helped me to sell the XR experiences to two of my friends who I met at this event.
